Octavo (over 7-10 inches tall). , 1236 pages with 24 introductory pages, illustrated with 23 plates including folding and single page maps, one with colour, folding and single page diagrams and plans, including 3 of the Thorneycroft torpedo vessel, there are also various figures in text , half brown calf with marbled paper to sides, gilt title and five raised bands with gilt detail and tolling to spine, green endpapers
