Text age-tanned. Gilt lettering debossed to spine and front of blue-grey, cloth-covered boards. Plum-colored, marbled endpapers. With over 50 illustrations. List of illustrations follows Contents, ix. Clean and tightly bound. 362 pp with indices. This volume "was written to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the existence of the San Francisco Chronicle. Some of the chapters included are : The Period Before the Awakening of California ; Policies and Attitude of the Press During the Fifties ; Many Innovations by the Brothers, Charles and M. H. de Young ; Affairs on the Eve of San Francisco's Great Disaster ; The Latest Developments in the Field of Journalism and many more.
