New York, 1902. Two volumes. [xii],240; xii,235,[1]pp. plus plates and facsimiles. Publisher's maroon cloth, printed paper spine labels. Moderate edge wear, minor soiling. Front hinges just starting, modern bookplate on each front pastedown. Very good. A handsomely-illustrated work on the notable New York printer and bookseller Hugh Gaine, with numerous plates reproducing Gaine's work as printer during the colonial and revolutionary eras. One of 350 limited edition sets printed on deckle-edge paper. This copy contains an original Gaine printing from 1775, a two shilling New York note issued by the City of New York (in vol. 2, opposite p. 200)
