Boston: Little, Brown & Co, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Translated by John H.P. Marks. Very Good in a Good jacket, unclipped ($2.50), generally toned and rubbed, some chips and closed tears at the edges, a small tape repair on the verso. Black buckram, bumped at the top-right corner, with gilt lettering on the spine. Firmly bound with a slight forward lean and splotchy red top stain, foxed at the edges and endpapers, some book mite tracks at the rear but not affecting any text. Celine's debut novel, largely autobiographical and drawn from his experiences in World War I and his post-war travels through Africa and the United States.
