"Embellished with magnificent illustrations, from original designs by Stephens, engraved by Beeler." The Cabin and Parlor is an example of pro-slavery plantation literature that emerged from the Southern United States in response to the abolitionist novel Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, which had been published in book form in that year, (Wright, American Fiction; v. 2 (1851-1875) 1878). Good+, original stamped boards rebacked with original spine, extensive foxing. Stock#OB955.

Scarce signed first edition of human rights activist Kennedy's visit to the deep South, exposing the "Problem of the South and the historical roots of all its evils..." Boldly signed on title page. Book is in essentially unread condition and appears to be the only signed copy listed online.

Sympathetic biography of Anne Randolph Meade Page (1781-1838) , born into an evangelical Christian family near Fredericksburg, Virginia, and married to Matthew Page, a Virginia politician and plantation owner. The book, written by her son-in-law, describes her work to improve conditions for the large number of enslaved people on her husband’s estate and to finance the American Colonization Society in the work to promote migration of freed African-Americans to Liberia. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall .

More than Mercer House: Savannah's Jim Williams & his Southern Houses written and signed by Dorothy Kingery, the hardcover book is like new except at the last page the sewn in bindings comes a little away from the book just for about 1/3 of the way up, no pages are loose and it's the very end of the book, the buckram black cover is beautiful; the dj has edge and cover wear to the front, but still looks good in the sense that you can still see the cover and back photographs very well.

Hardcover bound in original blue publisher's cloth with spine titles in gilt and cover designs in blind. The binding is worn and bumped and has some fraying and tearing at the spine ends. A couple of nicks on the spine are touched up with blue. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Appears to have two identical facsimile title pages tipped in (consequently lacking the original title; the frontis is NOT in facsimile). The text has some moderate foxing throughout. An early owner's blind stamped name is on the first page of the text. There is a folding newspaper article pasted onto the rear pastedown.
