Written in Spanish by Nicholas Monardes, physician of Seville, and Englished by John Frampton, merchant anno 1557; with an introduction by Stephen Gaselee. London/New York: Constable/ A.A. Knopf, 1925, xxvii, 177p; 188p, illus. This edition is limited to 1025 copies. This reprint combines two editions. Vol. 1 and v. 2, p. 1-48 contain the matter comprised in the 1577 edition of Frampton's translation; p. 49-188 of v. 2 are from the 2d English edition, 1580. The original from which Frampton translated is the Seville edition, 1574. Translation of Primera y segvnda y tercera partes de la historia medicinal de las cosas que se traen de nuestras Indias Occidentales que siruen en medicina. Some minor chipping top of spine of Volume I as well as rubbing to edges on cover panels, corners slightly dented, exposing boards. Volume 2 has more loss to head of spine than volume 1. More paper loss too to board edges. Overall, good to good plus copies. The two-volume set: $42.50 Box 18
