Sobre este artículo

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1975. 726pp. Black cloth boards, gilt titles on spine, title blindstamped on front board. Faint fading at very bottom of spine ends. Boards otherwise clean and dark. Publisher's glue visible through endpapers in crease between pages. Pages of book itself, text block included, are clean and unmarked. Some smudging to bottom page ends due to time on shelf. No evidence of the smudging internally. Dust jacket crisp and intact, with original $15.00 price on front jacket flap. Faint toning to white areas of dust jacket. Mild wear to extremities. Review slip laid in, identifying publication date as October 29, 1975. Jacket presents well in new mylar sleeve. JR was the first Gaddis novel in twenty years, after 1955's The Recognitions. It tells the story of a boy who secretly accumulates a fortune by way of trading penny stocks. A wonderful showcase of Gaddis's irreverence and inventive novelistic technique, uncommon in the first edition. . First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good+. 8vo.

Sinopsis

William Thomas Gaddis, Jr.  was an American novelist. He wrote five novels, two of which won National Book Awards. JR won the National Book Award in 1976. This ingenious, thought-provoking book is written entirely without the use of chapters. The narration is a funny critique of capitalism and is meant to mimic contemporary society. Written mostly in dialogue, one of the stories is of an 11 year old boy, who utilizes payphones and money orders to obscure his true identity and turn his penny stock into a fortune. A thought- provoking, collaborative style makes this novel unique, spectacular and well worth the time.
