Sobre este artículo

Tokyo: Gendai Shicho Sha, 1969. First edition. Hosoe, Eiko. Folio, [41] gate-fold double-pages, b&w photogravures. A few faint spots of foxing on the blank free endpapers, a subtle crease to the flap of a few leaves; otherwise a fine copy, bound in illustrated cloth. Housed in a paper over boards printed slipcase which shows minimal wear. Lacking the clear acetate dust jacket. To open this book is to part the "blue sky"; each page is gate-folded with both verso and recto a field of blue. Kamaitachi is an old myth of "The Weasel's Sickle" - a "lacerated wound caused by a state of vacuum, which is produced partially in the air, owing to a small whirlwind." During World War II, Hosoe was evacuated to the countryside. Years later, as an established photographer, he returned to make this alegorical suite with the aid of renowned dancer, Tatsumi Hijikata; it is a tale of madness triggered by jealousy. The preface is by Shuzo Takiguchi; the poem by Toyoichiro Miyoshi, and design by Ikko Tanaka.

Copy 250 of 1000 copies. This copy additionally SIGNED by the photographer in English, and with his red chop mark.

Parr/Badger THE PHOTOBOOK A HISTORY, Vol 1, p. 284-285; THE OPEN BOOK p. 248-249.
