Also contains Norman Lockyer (1836-1920) and Frances Cranmer Penrose's (1817-1903) article, "An Attempt to Ascertain the Date of the Original Construction of Stonehenge from its Orientation" that acccurately predicted the date of Stonehenge (1680 BC) by measuring the difference between its orientation and the direction of sunrise at the summer solstice. vii, [1], 501 pp. 8vo. Blue cloth spine and corners with marbled paper insets to covers. Five raised bands with gold titling to spine, call number handwritten in white ink at base of spine. Wear and scuffing to both from library use. Ex-library with bookplate and library stamp on title page of each volume, some library stamps within. Numerous plates illustrate articles.
