Exhibition catalog for a show that ran April 14 through June 24, 2007 in Chicago and then traveled to Madison, Wisconsin and Indianapolis for additional dates. Essay by John Hallmark Neff. Includes numerous color illustrations. A very near fine copy in stapled wrappers with a small crease to the top rear corner. A very attractive and elaborate production of this important Chicago imagist artist who was part of the Hairy Who. One of the best books on Wirsum's work. Laid are two promotional pieces from the Chicago show. Surprisingly uncommon.

This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period.
