Sobre este artículo

Near fine condition; cover shows slight foxing and yellowing, rust stain at staples throughout the book.

Group of Estonian Artists established in 1923 was one of the first and most important groups in Estonian avant-garde art. Its participants had been guided by a common objective - cubist and constructivist, with somewhat purely abstract, searches. The organization's founding members included: Jaan Vahtra, Eduard Ole, Friedrich Hist, Felix Randel, Hendrik Olvi, Arnold Akberg ja Märt Laarman. The group also sought to develop international co-operation.

Bright example of this is a current exhibition in which participated 14 Estonian and 7 Finnish modernist artists with the total number of displayed artworks 117. The Estonian painting section was introduced with works of Arnold Akberg, Edmond Arnold Blumenfeldt, Märt Laarman, Arkadio Laigo, Lydia Mei, Anna Triik-Põllusaar, Nikolai Triik and Agathe Veeber. In addition to paintings it featured caricature and drawings by Gori Tõnisson, Otto Krusten and Felix Johansen, sculpture by Ferdi Sannamees and Jaan Koort, ceramics by Beatrice Uusman. Finnish paintings were presented by Uuno Alanko, Ragnar Ekelund, Uuno Eskola, Atte Laitila, Yrjö Ollila, Sulho Sipilä, sculpture by Wäinö Aaltonen.

Critics had described the exhibition as quite mediocre with the absence of creative innovation. Although, organization's activity lasted until 1940, this had been the last exhibition of the Group, and already without Jaan Vahtra's participation, who distanced from the Group in the late 1920s. At the beginning of 1930s the search for the individuality had led former collaborators to different art styles, only Arnold Akberg remained faithful to the principles of constructivism until the end of his life.

Accompanying catalogue for the current exhibition in addition to list of works includes 16 tables of artworks reproductions. For the front wrapper design is used constructivist typography in black and red colors.
