The author says that "--no artist has captured the endearing aspects of childhood so exquisitely or with more originality". Very clean and unmarked orange cloth, black titled on backstrap; lower edge of boards are rubbed, with a touch of wear to corners. Tight and solid. Interior is pristine. Glossy jacket is clean and unmarked, a chip at the spine head, touch of wear at spine tail; near the center right by the spine fold there is a one inch scratch that goes through the jacket.The large, illustrated capital letters with which each chapters opens come from "The English-Spelling Book" as do the title page and half-title page illustrations.
