London: George Routledge and Sons, [1889]. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 9.5" by 7.5". Kate Greenaway; Edmund Evans (Engraver). A first edition copy of this charming work, containing instructions for playing numerous different games, popular during the Victorian Era. This work was written by Kate Greenaway, a renowned Victorian artist and writer best known for her children's book illustrations. Collated, complete with twenty four coloured full-page plates, engraved and printed in colour by Edmund Evans, a prominent English wood-engraver and colour printer during the Victorian era. This copy is undated, dated using Copac. In the original binding, with blue cloth spine with pictorial card boards. Externally generally smart with bumping and rubbing to extremities. Slight rubbing to spine and head and tail of spine. Hinges slightly strained but reasonably firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned but bright and clean, with the odd spot only to first and last few pages. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
