SECOND GERMAN EDITION circa 1880, 4to, 242 x 192 mm, 9½ x 7½ inches, blue pictorial boards, printed black, girl sitting under a tree and floral decorations to upper cover, 2 children watch 2 herons on lower cover, pages: 100 + 3 - adverts. Five designs depicting children on frontispiece very prettily hand-coloured as issued, 112 line drawings for children to colour all by Greenaway. Stories and rhymes by George Weatherly translated into German by Fanny Stockhausen. Spine slightly darkened, 3 mm (1/8") missing at head and tail of spine, 5 mm (¼") surface paper missing on lower corner of upper cover, lower corner of lower cover slightly bumped, endpapers slightly browned, NO OUTLINES COLOURED IN, UNUSED. A very good copy. First published by Cassell in 1879 as The 'Little Folks' Painting Book. Schuster 116, 6a with variant board colour. MORE IMAGES ATTACHED TO THIS LISTING, ALL ZOOMABLE.
