Author's presentation copy, signed by the author to the recto to the front endpaper, 'To Tom, From Lisa, July 8th 1982'. Tom Maschler"s bookplate to the front pastedown. Maschler is a publisher who worked for Jonathan Cape, who discovered and published authors including Ian McEwan and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In the original unclipped dustwrapper. 'Keepers of the House' is the author's debut novel, set in a Venezuelan valley in the midst of a drought. Written by Lisa St Aubin de Teran, known for her autobiographical fiction. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine, with a very small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper with a small amount of edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
