102 x 154 mm (image dimensions); 280 x 340 mm (outer dimensions). Original watercolour-and-ink artwork. On laid paper, laid down on a larger sheet with a hand-painted border. Inscribed in pencil lower right. Short tear to larger sheet, far from image area. Very good condition. Samuel Hieronymus Grimm (1733-1794) had a prolific output of exquisite topographical works, besides a wide range of other paintings in both oils and watercolours on a variety of subjects. During his life, Grimm was commissioned to record the heritage of places throughout England and Wales by his friend Richard Kaye, and also worked on behalf of Gilbert White and Francis Grose. .
