Sobre este artículo
New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc, 1965. Hardcover. G+/G- (several tears in the dust jacket, few mended with scotch tape, shelf wear to book, previous owner's nameplate on front page, all pages clear and intact). Tan oatmeal canvas boards, dark green pictorial dust jacket, 301 pp., 251 BW illustrations, 24 color plates tipped in, 10 fold-outs. "The empire of the Khmer consisted of the present kingdom of Cambodia and parts of Laos and Vietnam. During the eleventh century its capital, Angkor, was one of the most densely populated cities in the world. This book is the history of the Angkor civilization and of the evolution of the bronze and stone sculpture and wood carvings of the Khmer. ... Khmer art is Buddhist in feeling and of marked originality. Its masterpieces include vigorous sculptured portraits of the Khmer kings, and bas-reliefs showing court life and the everyday life of the Khmer people. Many of the pieces reproduced have been excavated only recently and are reproduced here for the first time." (dj).
