Sobre este artículo
Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1916. First Edition. Signed presentation copy; “John Howell from Talbot Mundy Oct. 14, 1919. ‘Kuch dar nakim hai!’- There is no such thing as fear (nor any end to friendship.) T.M. This is the sixth copy from the press of the first edition. T.M.” Bookplate; front hinge starting; very good. While the first printing is claimed, or determined, to print a redundant “t” to his name on the title page, this copy’s inscription contradicts that conclusion. However, it could well be that Mundy himself might not have been privy to such bibliographical detail, so that he could have received copies of a subsequent printing. Even though featuring mystical elements, it is substantially an adventure story; in Bleiler.
Sinopsis
King of the Khyber Rifles is a novel by British writer Talbot Mundy. Captain Athelstan King is a secret agent for the British Raj at the beginning of the First World War. Heavily influenced both by Mundy's own unsuccessful career in India and by his interest in theosophy, it describes his adventures among the tribes of the north with the mystical woman adventurer Yasmini and the Turkish mullah Muhammed Anim. The Khyber Rifles was and is an actual regiment.
