Sobre este artículo
Wein: Phaidon-Verlag spiel in 5 akten nach dem Chinesischen The Chalk Circle A play in 5 acts based on the Chinese Text is in German. German author Alfred Henschke (1890 - 1928) known by his pen name, Klabund, wrote more than two dozen plays. Quoting Wikipedia: "The name Klabund goes back to a north and northeast German name and was devised by him and others as a combination of Klabautermann (a devious hobgoblin of German folklore) and Vagabund (vagabond)." Illustrated by Georg Mayer-Marton. Mayer-Marton (1897 - 1960) was a Jewish artist working in Vienna when he created the illustrations for Die Kredekreis in 1928. He emigrated to England in 1939. His paintings hang in numerous museums in Great Britain and Europe. Der Kredekreis was first performed in 1925. The book is an 8vo size Chinese stitched binding: black hardcover with gilt titles on spine and gilt titles and gilt and white decorations on front cover. Binding is tied with what appears to be bamboo strings. 103 French Fold pages with some full page, full color illustrations. The back of the illustrated page contains a light sepia design of leaves. Includes very rare illustrated slipcase. We did not note a publication date in the book, it is circa 1928. Slipcase is worn and has an abrasion to bottom of spine. The book spine is bumped and worn and the gilt title on spine are rubbed. The white circle on the front cover is also rubbed. Corners are bumped. There is some light foxing in the page margins throughout and on the inside covers and endpapers. The book doesn't quite have typical pastedowns, but the edges of the inside covers are worn. There is an abrasion on fep where sticker was removed. . Chinese. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Mayer-Marton, Georg. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
