William Hogarth was one of the most famous English artists of the 18th-century and his satirical cartoons appeared in comic-strips and other printed works for decades. His most famous works were short series of sketches that told moral stories through the lens of political satire – 'A Harlot's Progress,' 'A Rake's Progress,' and 'Hudibras.'
All three of these famous works, along with the rest of Hogarth's portfolio, are included in this late 19th-century London Printing edition, along with an introductory essay by James Hannay.

These wares were first made in the same Jingdezhen kilns that produced blue and white porcelain during the Jiajing period (1522-1566), although there is evidence that suggests their production continued in China, well into the reign of Wanli (1572-1620), and that they were also produced in Zhangzhou kilns in the Fujian province. This type of porcelain began to appear on international markets between the second half of the 16th and early 17th centuries. Original limited edition, this copy is one of only 150 printed on Arches paper, with one original etching in black on the front cover (Femme nue couchee tournee a droite, Delteil 14). this edition includes 40 reproductions by Renoir in Black, sanguine and in color, executed by Daniel Jacomet. This copy, however, is missing one of the black and white reproductions. Aside from the missing print, the book is in fairly good condition. The front and back covers are tanned, page edges are lightly aged and the binding is loose.

FIRST EDITION, GOOD, CLEAN, TIGHT, UNMARKED COPY. A LITTLE SCUFFING ON COVER, BUT CONTENTS LOOK GREAT.
