A beautiful book, with a warm, supple feel. *** Included in this works of Lactantius are: "The Divine Institutes", a treatise intended to point out the futility of pagan beliefs; "On the Wrath of God", a treatise directed at the Stoics; "The Works of God", written during Diocletian's persecutions; and the poem"Pheonix". Interest in Lactantius was renewed in the Renaissance, in large part for his elaborately rhetorical Latin style. ***.
