Decorative navy blue, burgundy, and gilt cloth binding with illustrations. All edges gilt. Incredible full page ownership indicator, done artistically in hand as well signed (signature illegible). Frontispiece. Title page contains an illustration. 100 illustrations by Joseph M. Gleeson. 266pp. Binding has some spots of wear, fraying, and staining (but overall is quite nice). Inner hinges starting. Front free endpaper neatly clipped at it's bottom right edge. Little to no browning/staining inside.
Sinopsis
The Lady of the Lake marked the pinnacle of Scott's popularity as a poet. With 25,000 copies sold in eight months, it broke all records for the sale of poetry. Known as a romantic poem, it tells about love and honor amidst a bitter rivalry between King James V and the Douglas family. The book is set in the Trossachs region of Scotland and it is composed of six cantos, each concern the action of a single day.
