Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Binding remains firm. Unclipped jacket has light edge-wear with minor tears and chipping. Moderate tanning and creasing, with rubbing and marking.

The plot is focused on one of the daughters, who takes her life in her hands to follow the judgment of her heart. Beneath the outward events the poem is a restatement of the eternal values of love and faith and sacrifices. .
