Coloured frontisipiece. 181 black and white illustrations from photos. Two folding maps at the end. Top edge gilt. Foredge has some mild foxing otherwise the book is very clean. Dust jacket has minor wear at the top of the spine otherwise is in very nice condition. very good Arctic Bibl. 4074. Story of a three man expedition to the Coppermine via Great Bear Lake, a winter at Great Bear, then down the Coppermine to its mouth the following summer. A barren lands classic and a wonderful read. This copy inscribed to Miss D Mevell in memory of her brother Cosmo from the author. Cosmo Melvill(e) was a British Big Game Hunter who made a trip tot he Barrens. Several pages have annotations in the authors hand. A prime and very collectable copy of the book. 1914
