Sobre este artículo
London: Faber & Faber, 1943 . First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 7.5" by 5". None. An uncommon first edition of this intriguing novel set in a fishing village on the Irish coast, written by Stephen Gilbert. First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. This intriguing novel is set during summer on the quiet Irish coast, when a landslide occurs, uncovering seeds, eggs and sleeping creatures of the primeval age. Under the blazing sun, these creatures and plants develop rapidly, later becoming discovered by a small boy called Wolfe. Despite the creatures being benevolent, they disrupt the order of the quiet fishing town. Written by Northern Irish novelist and activist, Stephen Gilbert, who was labelled by E. M. Forester as "a writer of distinction".With a gift inscription 'For George Sassoon' dated 1946, to the front endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and the occasional light mark to the cloth. With a gift inscription 'For George Sassoon' dated 1946, to the recto of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is good, with light chipping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine, with a closed tear to the head of the rear board. Slight darkening to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
