Hefty catalogue for the 1961 Paris exhibition devised around the mammoth one-off book produced by Joseph Foret in collaboration primarily with Salvador Dali. The book weighed over 200 kg, including its bejewelled covers, and featured original work by, among others, Cocteau, Dali, Buffet, Foujita, Zadkine, Mathieu, and Fini. This 395pp catalogue reproduces much of the book (in reduced size), and with tipped-in plates showing the illustrations. The latter part of the catalogue concerns the production of the book and has illustrations in text showing the artists and craftspeople at work.
