Sobre este artículo

Calvert Marine Museum Pr, 1991-11-01. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. ISBN 0941647102. Calvert Marine Museum Press, 1991. As New condition, still packed in original box from the publisher. Still in publisher's original shrinkwrap. Unsold stock from a defunct bookshop. 192 pages, with chapter notes, appendices, and index. From the front flap: "The transition of M M Davis and Son from a shipyard for commercial wooden craft to yacht builders of national acclaim is the legacy of Clarence E Davis of Solomons. / Working with a group of sailor clients who wanted the best in design and construction, M M Davis and Son produced a number of the country's finest yachts in the 1920s and 1930s. Philip Rhodes got his start at Solomons. Hight Tide, a John Alden design, was yachting's blue water winner in 1933. Aweigh, White CLoud, and Manitou, all Davis built, were early successes of Sparkman and Stephens. / The Last Generation follows the Davis family through five generations. John Davis who built schooners at St Michaels in 1800, and to his descendants at James and Taylors Islands who built coasting schooners and pungies. Then to Solomons Island where M M Davis built bugeyes and tow boats and Clarence, who, at the time of his death in 1936, was one of the nation's most respected yacht builders.
