Moderate shelf wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book, ding to the spine, soiling of the white and green pictorial covers which depict a garden gate. Top edge gilt, deckled edges, 414 pages plus one page of ads. Laid in are 3 pages of unsigned mimeographed instructions : "A Tree for New York Planting and Recommendations" describing the proper procedures for various species of trees. First printing, no other's noted. Nils Jönsson-Rose worked and wrote about garden and landscaping around the turn of the 19th-20th century. Jönsson-Rose was appointed landscape gardener for the New York City Parks and Recreation Department in 1898. He designed the greenhouses which were located in Central Park at 5th Ave. and 107th St. Educated at the Alnarp Horticultural School in Sweden and at the Royal Kew Gardens in England he emigrated to the United States in 1888. His papers are located ay the Mertz Library of the New York Botanical Society. Every effort is made to ship all books and other items within 24 hours.
