Soundly bound in original toned photo illustrated paper covered boards with leather title labels to spines. Light/moserate shelf rubbing to edges of leather spine labels and just mild shelf rub to paper over boards at spine ends and corner tips. Publisher's brown cloth covered slipace a little shelf rubbed at edges and with some mild silverfish predation patchiness to edges; paper title label to closed end is lightly rubbed at edges. Illustrated with 49 Weston photographs made for this issue of Leaves, printed in half-tone on coated stock. Mild shelf tap to lower front corner of slipcase and boards. A little worn but sound and clean in original slipcase. A significant and important example of the modern illustrated book. Sigend by Weston. VG- thus ... Sinopsis
Leaves of Grass (1855) is a poetry collection by the American poet Walt Whitman. Among the poems in the collection are "Song of Myself," "I Sing the Body Electric," and in later editions, Whitman's elegy to the assassinated President Abraham Lincoln, "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd. " Whitman spent his entire life writing Leaves of Grass, revising it in several editions until his death.
