With 24 black and white plates. ¶ The standard reasoned catalogue of the work of Cornelis Engebrechtsz (1475-1527), who lived in Leiden and established a large and productive workshop there that trained many important painters. He primarily painted biblical scenes hat were distinctive through their use of warm colours and layered glazes. This work contains ample bibliographical references, learned notes, indexes and a "life of Engebrechtsz" after Van Mander (1604). -(Edges partly slightly foxed).
