Sobre este artículo
London/Cambridge: Pickering/Cambridge, 1840. First Thus . Hardcover. Good -/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. This entry is for all 5 of the listed books, the 2 book set re northern nations thru American Revolution and the 3 book set on the French Revolution. There is small difference in publisher attribution as indicated above, but the books are hard cover half bound calf (spine and diagonals for board tips) with balance marble boards and full marbled end sheets. They measure 8 3/4 x 5 5/8 ". They will be accompanied by a 6th book, Brockway's abridgement of the above titles, 1955, first printing, Simon and Schuster, spine sunned, some edge abrasion, gift inscription first end sheet, no marking. The description of the 5-1840 titles will be quite lengthy (we are committed to full, accurate descriptions) but while we will do our best, please ask any questions that may arise. . . Fotos usually follow the listings shortly. All books have been carefully stored and no cocking is noted. Spine labels and gilt look quite decent, #1 of the 2v. set has trace label edge chip. The collector's penciled notes are present on pastedowns/endsheets (smallish) on #s 1&2 again of the 2v. set. Additionally #1 has superficial scars first pastedown and some minor paper loss beginning at edges of its marbled paper, pinhole 2nd endsheet. Some board edge chip #2 as well. Sturdy pair, 433 pgs and 494 pgs. Other typical wear is present, as are old bookstore label, no marking noted, binding sound but, perhaps due to their making, they have trace interior board gapping at hinges. What follows will be the specifics re the 3 volume set, where they are similar to the previous I will not itemize in detail. V.1 374 pgs, V.2 448 pgs. V.3 431 pgs. All look quite similar to the others V.2 Has light stain at gutter 1st few pages and the front hinges of the set show a bit of minor gapping top to bottom. I has the only real headband issue, with a 1/8" tear at front. In looking over the 5 in toto, I see considerable bottom board wear (this seems to be where the chipping mainly arises from) and while the board tips have benefited from their leather covers, they are bumped with some abrasioned thru the tip covers. Referring to all 5, foxing is very minimal. The main foto will not include the 1955 title, and will hopefully show 4 spines and a representative front cover. More fotos can be emailed. The books have been stored in acid free glassine bags since we received them and will be shipped in same. Domestic media mail shipping at our customary one book price. Fast and overseas shipping by arrangement. * We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. We assure the buyer that books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, using the strict, traditional standards.*
