Disbound from a volume stamped "Withdrawn from A.P.S." on a preliminary blank page and bearing an inscription indicating that it had been given to the American Philosophical Society by Dr. John Bell. John Bell (1796-1872) received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1817. He practiced medicine in Philadelphia, lectured at the Philadelphia Medical Institute, and was a member of the American Philosophical Society. The author, Peter Mere Latham (1789-1875), was an English physician and medical educator. He delivered these lecture at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. The year this volume was published he was appointed physician extraordinary to Queen Victoria. In Fine Condition: clean and tight.
