First edition. 8vo, [12], xiv, [6], & 192 pp, which include a four page catalog of books available from John Nutt following the table of contents, and a separate title page preceding part two. Binding rubbed, upper joint just being to crack, short tear & small hole at v/vi (not affecting text), p 39 with brief bracketing in ink, moderately toned & foxed, otherwise very good.

A splendid gathering of satirical sketches which, as indicated by OCLC, are "intended to be comic, but also reveal a great deal about attitudes and the behaviour expected of women"

Selections include:

"The Character of a Wanton Woman", "a Modest Woman", "a pretended Godly Woman", "a Religious Woman", "A Gaming Woman", etc as well as a collection of poems perhaps best represented by the infamous "A Satyr upon a Fart" or perhaps "The Character of a Barren Adultress."
