Sobre este artículo

New York: The Viking Press, 1946. Second printing (1946), first published in 1940. First book by the author perhaps best known for Make Way for Ducklings (1941). Externally fair, internally very good, fair to good dustjacket. The story of a boy in Alto, Ohio, who couldn't sing and couldn't even whistle because he couldn't pucker his lips, but became very good at playing the harmonica. He even became the town hero when the town grumbler, Sneep, decided to spoil a celebration by sucking on a lemon and making everyone pucker, including the town band - except, of course, Lentil. Light blue cloth, illustrated endpapers, about fifty pages, illustrated dustjacket. The covers have shallow horizontal creases from being bent a little (visible only from the outside, and beneath the dustjacket), as well as light overall spotting, some rubbing to the corners and spine ends. Good hinges, sound text block with no loosened pages, pages clean with a couple of instances of faint finger soil to the lower margins, no chips, tears, names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is priceclipped and has some light allover shelf soil, minor chipping to the spine ends which does not affect the lettering, edge rubbing, other very minor chips and tears, very little paper loss.. Second Printing. Hard Cover. Fair/Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Sinopsis

Robert McCloskey (1914-2003) wrote and illustrated some of the most honored and enduring children's books ever published. He grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, and spent time in Boston, New York, and ultimately Maine, where he and his wife raised their two daughters. The first ever two-time Caldecott Medal winner, for Make Way for Ducklings and Time of Wonder , McCloskey was also awarded Caldecott Honors for Blueberries for Sal, One Morning in Maine, and Journey Cake, Ho! by Ruth Sawyer.  He was declared a Living Legend by the Library of Congress in 2000.  You can see some of his best-loved characters immortalized as statues in Boston's Public Garden and Lentil Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
