Early ownership inscription reading "Susanna Taylor's Book, Scituate, September 8 1818," on flyleaf. 126 pp. CONDITION: Good, dampstain on front cover, rubbing to spine, cracked inner hinges, wear to extremities, light foxing throughout. Stated third edition. Early pacifist writings arguing that violence and capital punishment are un-Christian and have no basis in the gospel. Samuel Whelpley (1766--1817) was an American Clergyman and writer in the New-York area.
