Sobre este artículo

London: MacMillan and Co. Limited, 1903. Octavo. Bound in 7 volumes. Half red morocco and marbled paper boards. Matching leather corners. Matching endpapers. Wonderful, gilt, arts and craft floral design on the spine along with title and date. Previous owners initials embossed on front board in gilt. Top edge gilt. Fore edge untrimmed. Very slight wear and abrasion on a couple of the bindings. One volume with several small indentations on the back edge of the boards. A couple of volumes with a small sections showing old mild tide lines otherwise the volumes are very clean and crisp. The set extra illustrated with water colours and separately illustrated prints. A very attractive and rare set. There seem to have been a number of editions issued in the 1902/03 period with this edition being the nicest. This being copy 6 of 20 numbered and registered copies. Each volume is separately numbered at the front and signed by the binder, Jackel and Co. NY. Each volume has a hand coloured frontispiece and a number of other high quality illustrations. Upon the death of FitzGerald in 1883, the editor recovered many of FitzGerald's writings to produce a possible publication. The author reprints here many of the letters FitzGerald wrote to friends and colleagues over many of the years of his life. A beautiful set by the author of the first and best-known English translator of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. 1903
