Czech playwright Vaclav Havel (1936-2011) wrote these letters to his wife, Olga Splichalova (1933-1996), while imprisoned for his actions in support of the Czech human rights movement, Charter 77. He later served as the final president of Czechoslovakia, from 1989 until its dissolution in 1992, and then as the first president of the Czech Republic, from 1993 to 2003. Book is in Near Fine Condition: red remainder mark on top page edges; otherwise, clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Very Good Condition: creased and chipped at ends of spine; otherwise, clean and bright.
