Vier Jahrzehnte lang war er einer der fruchtbarsten am meisten bejubelte komische Autor Frankreichs. Sein Bewunderer Charlie Chaplin nannte ihn: 'den größten Humoristen der Welt'. Raymond Poincaré war von 1913-1920 Staatspräsident von Frankreich.
