Sobre este artículo
New York, New York: Godwin Books/Henry Holt and Company, 2017. First American Edition 5th or later Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Both heartbreaking & heartwarming, this is a fictionalized account of the true story of Dita Kraus, a 14-year-old Czech girl imprisoned at Auschwitz until rescued by the Allies at the end of WWII, who not only survived, but maintained a secret library of 8 books that she distributed to her fellow prisoners & kept their spirits alive. In 423 pages, with profiles of some of the reali-life characters & what happened to them, along with bibliographic sources, in rear. Orig. published in Spanish in 2012, & translated into English in 2017, this is the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION from that same year, but a later (11th) printing. Hardcover 8vo has blue matte paper over boards lettered in white with a Jewish star to spine. Condition is Near Fine: just slightly less crisp than Brand New! Completely clean save for a very faint discolored area to bottom outside page edges near spine; same stain shows up inside the DJ, not visible outside. Pages creamy white & unmarked, binding strong & straight, DJ colorful with no wear; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free. Our photos show the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
