Sobre este artículo
Bobbs-Merrill, 1951. G/G 1st/1st. Stated First Edition with no other printings. In original olive green cloth with gilt lettering to front and spine. Book has been gently read with a slight spine slant. Tight pages except for the last page, which is loose but still attached. Fair corners and boards are faded. Foxing to bottom fore-edges. Textblock has front and back pastedowns have some staining. Pages lightly tanned. "Copy #18" written in blue ink on top of the FFEP. No other writing, marks or bookplate and not BCE, ex-library or remaindered. The dust jacket is unclipped ($3.50) with several chips along the back panel and pieces missing from the lower spine and front corner. Toning to flaps. The colors remain bright but there is some discoloration and soiling to the white on the back panel. See photos for an in-depth inspection. In a protective Brodart Mylar cover and stored in a dust-free glass cabinet.
William Styron's first novel traces the betrayals and infidelities–the heritage of spite and endlessly disappointed love–that afflict the members of a Southern family and that culminates in the suicide of the beautiful Peyton Loftis.
