[5], 6-544, [2] (pages of publisher's advertisements), [2] pp. Maroon cloth with borders in blind on each board, gilt lettering on the front board, gilt lettering and two gilt rules on the spine. Brown coated endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a steel-engraved frontispiece portrait of Lincoln and with three additional engraved plates. Broadfoot 277. Nevins II 64. Nevins calls this the first full biography of Abraham Lincoln. A small split to each hinge, a small dampspot on the frontispiece, a few leaves with offsetting.
