Has several (not all) of the first issue points: frontispiece not listed; first four plates have ''Chapman & Hall'' at foot; ''latter'' for ''letter'' l. 43, p.160. Nineteenth century binding of half green morocco with raised bands, gilt decoration to spine, marbled boards and endpapers.Foxing to almost all of the plates, mostly in the margins. Some rubbing to joints, bands and corners. Very good.
Sinopsis
Nicholas Nickleby is left responsible for his mother and sister when his father dies. The novel follows his attempt to succeed in supporting them, despite his uncle Ralph's antagonistic lack of belief in him. It is one of Dickens' early comic novels.
