Biography and letters of Theodore Parker (1810 - 1860) who was a Boston area American Transcendentalist and reforming minister of the Unitarian church. A reformer and abolitionist, his words and popular quotations would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a bit unorthodox and his supporters organized the 28th Congregational Society of Boston in December and installed Parker as its minister in January 1846. Illustrated. Covers of both volumes are faded and have light wear; interiors are in very good condition. .
