Sobre este artículo
New York: Kenmare Publications (D.&J. Sadlier), 1872. Mary Frances Cusack (1832-1899), known as "the Nun of Kenmare," (and sometimes as "Sister M.F. Clare") was a prolific writer in many genres. This is a Very Good Plus copy of her popular biography of the great Irish patriot. This is the First American Edition - one of several fancy versions printed by Sadlier (her regular American publisher) but also issued under "Kenmare Publications," Cusack's imprint. Quercus assumes this to be a subscription item used as a fund-raiser by Cusack; she was known to subsidize her charitable work with her writings. This is a thick octavo, almost two pounds in weight and three inches thick. An impressive tome. Green cloth binding, stamped with a likeness of O'Connell in gilt on the front cover; the edges are gilt. Illustrated with many steel engravings. Clean text, bright and supple; easy to read; 803 pages, indexed. An attractive production, usually seen in some disrepair due to the size and weight. Despite her fame and tremendous popularity during the 19th Century, Cusack's works are rather uncommon today. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First American Edition.. Decorative Cloth. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
