Scuffing to leather, but no tears or splits, externally very good, internally fine. 2 volumes, original full sheep with morocco lettering pieces, small octavos, iv, 460, 42, vii; 448, 32, v pp., engraved frontispiece portrait of Washington by J. B. Longacre after the painting by G. Stuart in first volume, marbled endpapers. The work was originally published in 1804-07 in 5 volumes with a separate atlas volume of 10 maps. The second edition was first published in 1832 and included the maps which are omitted in this later reprint. Sabin notes that the 2 edition does not include "the early Continental history." Sabin 44789.
