Thomas Y. Cromwell & Company,Boston, 1886. First Edition, 1886. Thomas Y. Cromwell & Company,Boston, 1886. Dark Green cloth over boards. black and gold designs and lettering. VERY GOOD/NO DJ. This book is the best I've read covering the history of our most prolific and honorable women that shaped this country. They are also the first women to augment the station in the lives of women, and bring into view our capabiities to excell in all segment of society. These women set the examples by their quest for knowledge and proven achievements, far beyond the custom, rules and expectations of wife, mother and homemaker of the era.
It is the best Biography/AutoBiography I have personally read on these famous women combined in such a small book. Keep in mind that was Sarah K. Bolton's era, 1841-1916. Some of the interviews were in person. She was much closer to the information
then most written Biography/AutoBiography written today. On each one of these famous ladies, she was able to capture the path to their successes, the hurdle they experienced, their determination to go forward. Also their geneology, throught their lives down to (if deceased at the time of her writing) the details of their funerals. She also captured their personal feelings, joy, heartbreak and traumas from birth through their lives.
Here are these famous women in this book.
Harriet Beecher Stowe -- Helen Hunt Jackson -- Lucretia Mott -- Mary A. Livermore -- Margaret Fuller Ossoli -- Maria Mitchell -- Louisa M. Alcott --Mary Lyon -- Harriet G. Hosmer -- Madame de Staël -- Rosa Bonheur -- Elizabeth Barrett Browning -- "George Eliot" -- Elizabeth Fry -- Elizabeth Thompson Butler -- Florence Nightingale -- Lady Brassey -- Baroness Burdett-Coutts -- Jean Ingelow. Thomas Y. Cromwell & Company,Boston, 1886. First Edition,(Boston : J.S. Cushing & Co. printers ; presswork by Berwick & Smith) Very Good ++, solid, clean, no pulling at spine, light shelfwear at corners and top and bottom of spine. Pics/prints of each Biography. On page 120-121, brown stain on both pages due to a small newspaper clipping of an Alcott relative funeral.(about 4" by 1". Very delicate, broken but readable. Left it in place, could be interesting to someone. Dark Green cloth over boards. black and gold designs and lettering.
