John Guille Millais dedicated this work to his parents,This work it celebrates the life and work of Sir John Everett Millais, the English painter, and illustrator. He was one of the founding members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He is best known for creating a new form of realism in his art which went on to inspire artists including William Morris.Volume one includes fifty four plates and a charming collection of vignettes showing a range of different artistic techniques from line drawing to oil painting. Collated complete. Volume two includes eighty six plates and four letters. Collated complete. Handsomely bound in a half morocco binding. Externally very smart. Rubbing to the boards. Bumping to the front board. Internally firmly bound. Spotting to the first and last pages but generally, pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary gift inscription to the first leaf of both volumes. Plates are generally clean. Very Good
