Sobre este artículo

Alexandria, Virginia: Time Life Books, 1981. A gorgeous, pristine copy. No previous owner's name. Not a remainder. Bright, clean, square, tight, and unmarked. Sharp corners. Fresh and crisp, obviously never read. Handsomely bound in full, brown leatherette that is gilt stamped, and embossed with a western motif/longhorn design. A silk ribbon page-marker is sewn into the headband. All edges gilt. Attractive marbled endpapers. Illustrated with a few engravings. A volume in the Classics of the Old West series. Subtitle: "With Particular Incidents of the Route, Mistakes and Sufferings of the Emigrants, The Indian Tribes, The Present and Future of the Great West." Howes D230 [Final Edition D233]:: "One of the best 'forty-niner' narratives." Laid-in is the publisher's introductory letter, which says in part: "Delano set out from his hometown of Ottawa, down the Illinois River to the Mississippi and St. Louis, up the Missouri to St. Joseph and then cross country with oxen and wagon and companions who, a century earlier, would have been called indentured servants. Delano provided them with supplies and paid their passage with the proviso that they split with him whatever they earned for the following year. Delano was thus an authentic forty-niner, but not a miner.". Facsimile reprint of 1854 first edition.. Hardcover. As New condition/No dust jacket, as issued. 8vo. 384pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
