HC 1st edition soundly bound in 1/4 leather backed spine and corners with marbled paper covered boards. Bookplate to front pastedown of Henry D. Gilpin, Quaker lawyer and statesman, and 41st U. S. Attorney General (1840-41) under President Martin Van Buren. Leather rubbed over joints and corners with shallow loss at crown. Subsequent owner bookplate of John Penn Brock placed above the Gilpin bookplate on the pastedown. Brock was an executive of the Bethlehem Steel Co. Xvii, 325; 21 pp. Supplement to the work added at rear with separate title page date 1833. Frontis engraving and one plate. Offset toning to endpages. Contents clean and sound. Uncommon. VG- .
