Near Fine. 8vo; 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches (171 x 134 mm); (6), 549 pp. Elegant red polished calf binding with gilt illustrated medallion on front boards and floral scroll edge on both boards, raised bands, gilt title and lovely gilt decorations in compartments. Marbled endpapers, marbled edges. Some rubbing and thumbing on the cover and spine head, 1/3 inch scuff on edge of back cover, spine somewhat sunned, but pages bright and clean and binding square and tight. Prize label pasted inside front cover. A distinguished edition of the biography of Queen Victoria by the noted biographer and journalist George Barnett Smith, in an dignified binding with beautiful gilt details.
